macOS hangs on the virtual machine when you connect the iPhone

The case looks like this:

  1. Set to vmware 14.
  2. Installed on it mac os high sierra.
  3. The mac OS has XCode installed.
  4. The kit also includes an iPhone last.

At first, everything was fine - the code was developed in Xcode, everything was running. Then makos took it and updated it. Xcode still running, all applications are running but... as soon as you connect the iPhone to the virtual machine, everything completely hangs. Even if you pull it out later iphone from the usb connector, macos continues to hang.

Question: tell me how you can fix / bypass the macos hang? Optionally, what could be causing the hang?

There was exactly the same problem. I changed the virtual machine settings: "Virtual Machine Settings -> USB Controller -> USB compatibility".

I have problems if USB compatibility = USB 2.0. If I put USB 3.0, the OS stops hanging but the device itself does not see (I have an old laptop USB 3.0 in principle does not support. So try this option first). Then I changed it to USB 1.1 and everything worked (the OS does not hang, the device sees).

For what reason does it occur the problem and why exactly this solution is not known.
