@navi1893, what do you mean by system administration? First, determine the specialization that suits you best, and then look for literature. One way or another, but knowledge of the basics of the OS, computer settings and network is mandatory and necessary. However, most of the knowledge can be obtained only in practice. Therefore, if you have not even opened the book offered to you, then you may be interested in the following edition , focused on "beginners" and, in which a more comprehensive approach to the topic. This book should also help you .

Well, if you omit such a long introduction, then here is a list of books that helped me and that are recommended on the web (the list is not structured):

  • Krenke - Theory and practice of database construction
  • TCP/IP. Network administration. 3rd edition. Craig Hunt.
  • Stallings-Modern Computer Networks
  • Tanenbaum - Modern OS
  • Mathers T.-Administration of Windows Server 2003/2000 on a terminal server
  • Stakhnov-Office network and Linux server with your own hands
  • Sergey Bormotov-100% System Administration
  • System administration in Linux-T. Adelstein, B. Lubanovich

On the site intuit.ru, you can take some free training and get the necessary minimum of knowledge. Quite interesting courses are available on the site lectorium.tv

Knowledge of the "OSI Model" is welcome and encouraged, and in most cases is mandatory. Network topologies, the basics of building networks, working with server operating systems. Take a look at MS TechNet, thematic forums and websites...There is plenty of literature, the main thing: the desire to learn andhere .

I will express IMHO, instead of Stakhnov and Bormotov, I would advise Bersenev (there is a type of brief preparation for the delivery of LPI 101 and 102) and Nemet (there is a lot of work).I would add to the list of DB - Data, but there is really a monograph. On networks there is a book and Tanenbaum-I recommend it. On Windows, Windows Server 2008 R2 Morimoto is suitable. In addition to intuit, if there are no problems with English, then coursera and other similar projects. And of course, practice, conferences, communication with experienced colleagues, forums, thematic sites, etc. etc.

A beginner himself, also in search of literature. I read Hunt, Kenin, watched courses on Intuit and from a Specialist, but the most important thing is practice, remember, books are just reference books, everything is learned empirically. Good luck!

Here is one of the options: "Linux. All about Linux systems. Alexey Stakhnov. "
