The solution to this problem is available on the official website: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1027986

As an option, it saves you: Open the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones

Delete a key named " [] "

The problem is just in the smeared blue. There's either a space, or a Russian character, or something else.

  1. Create a folder C:\tmp.
  2. Open System (Win+Break)/Advanced System Settings/Environment Variables.
  3. Find TEMP and TMP there, and copy their values somewhere.
  4. Correct TEMP and TMP to C:\tmp.
  5. Restart the installation.
  6. After installation, roll back TEMP/TMP to the old values.
