Will Google see rel=nofollow, which is added to links using jquery?

There are several links on the page. After the page loads, the rel="nofollow" attribute is added to them using jQuery. Google will follow these links, or will it still see the added attribute? I found several articles on this topic, but I would really like a link to the official doc or at least to the Google development blog.

This is not written in the official documentation. If this were reliably known, why would the authors of this and similar materials conduct their research?

In a study conducted in May 2015, it was found that Google sees nofollow in the DOM. Except when nofollow is duplicated in HTML
